Impaired Memory
Our cognitive functioning can be impaired in multiple ways. Head injuries, TBIs, stroke, neurological conditions, and Alzheimers are some of the common causes of impaired memory. Undiagnosed vision problems can also cause or contribute to an impaired memory. Dr. Stephey’s comprehensive behavioral / neurodevelopmental eye exams are designed to uncover undiagnosed, untreated, or undertreated vision problems like those that might contribute to an impaired memory. Patients who have weak visual memory skills, poor eye teaming, or magnocellular deficiencies, for example, may be able to improve their memories through nutritional therapy, vision therapy and / or eyeglasses with prisms, colored lenses and / or low plus lenses. Contact Dr. Stephey to schedule your comprehensive behavioral eye exam. For more information about the role of vision in impaired memory, visit our Resources page.
